Integrity signals that are reported, not used to silently fail people

Remote interview integrity is usually sold with more confidence than the underlying signals deserve. The honest position is that no browser-based system can prove a candidate was not assisted, and any product that tells you otherwise is describing a marketing claim rather than a mechanism.

What HireOrbyt does is narrower and more defensible. It records specific, observable signals during the session, weights them into one reported score, and is explicit about the cases where a signal is simply unavailable.

What you get

Focus and fullscreen tracking

Window blur, focus changes and fullscreen exits are recorded through the session on every browser.

Display configuration where the browser exposes it

Screen count is read where the Window Management API is available — Chromium on desktop.

Absence of a signal is never treated as guilt

On Safari, Firefox and mobile the display term is excluded from the composite rather than scored as clear. A candidate is never penalised for a signal their browser cannot emit — that asymmetry is the most common way integrity scoring quietly becomes unfair.

Reported, not enforced

The score appears in the report as an integrity pillar for a human to weigh. It does not auto-reject anyone.

How it works

  1. 1

Signals are captured during the session

Focus, fullscreen and — where available — display configuration.

  2. 2

They are weighted into one pillar

With unavailable signals excluded rather than assumed favourable or unfavourable.

  3. 3

A human reads it in context

Alongside the rest of the report, as evidence rather than a verdict.

Questions we get asked

Can you prove a candidate cheated?

No, and we will not claim it. These are signals, not proof. They are worth reading alongside the interview content, which is why they are reported rather than acted on automatically.

Is a candidate on Safari or a phone disadvantaged?

No. Where a signal cannot be emitted it is excluded from the composite entirely, rather than being scored as though nothing was detected.

Do you record the candidate's screen?

No. There is no screen recording and no human invigilation. The signals are limited to what the browser reports about focus, fullscreen and display count.
